Sauna FAQs

How long does the sauna take to reach operating temperature?

Generally, ForestCedar saunas require 40 to 50 minutes to reach an optimal temperature of 170°F. However, this can vary slightly depending on the ambient outdoor temperature and the specific power rating of your heater. Our units are engineered for consistent and reliable heating performance.

Can I pour water on the rocks? (Wet vs. Dry Sauna)

Absolutely. While a "dry" sauna has low humidity, ForestCedar heaters are designed for the traditional experience. You can ladle water over the hot stones to generate steam (this is known as Löyly). Whether you prefer a dry heat or a humid steam environment is entirely up to your personal preference; our heaters support both safely.

How do I ensure I am using the sauna safely?

Listen to your body. We recommend starting with shorter sessions at lower temperatures to build tolerance. It is important to stay hydrated and alternate between heat sessions and cool-down breaks to prevent overheating. If you ever feel dizzy or uncomfortable, exit the sauna immediately.

What distinguishes a Traditional Sauna from an Infrared one?

The experience is fundamentally different. A Traditional Sauna (like ForestCedar) heats the air to a high temperature and allows for steam, creating an immersive, enveloping heat. Infrared Saunas use light waves to heat your body directly without significantly warming the air. Infrared units cannot produce steam and are often considered "heat therapy" rather than a true, traditional sauna experience.

Is assembly difficult?

ForestCedar saunas are designed to be DIY-friendly. They arrive with pre-fabricated panels and clear, step-by-step instructions. typically, two adults can complete the assembly in just a few hours using standard household tools.

What are the electrical requirements?

You will need a licensed electrician to perform the hardwiring. Most ForestCedar heaters require a dedicated 220V/240V power source. The exact amperage depends on the specific heater model you choose. Standard lighting within the sauna usually operates on a separate 110V, 15-amp circuit.

Where should I install my outdoor sauna?

You need a solid, level foundation with good drainage. Ideal surfaces include a concrete pad, paved stones, a reinforced deck, or pressed gravel. Ensure the surface can support the total weight of the unit and users.

How much does it cost to operate?

Our saunas are surprisingly energy-efficient. Because the 240V heaters only draw power during the actual heating cycle, the operational cost is comparable to running an electric clothes dryer or oven—typically costing just pennies per session. Turning the unit off immediately after use ensures maximum efficiency.

How do I care for my sauna?

Maintenance is simple. We recommend sitting on a towel to protect the wood from perspiration. After each session, leave the door open to let the interior air out. Periodically wipe down benches and vacuum the floor. Once a year, inspect the heater stones, clean the cavity, and replace any rocks that have cracked.

What is the warranty coverage?

ForestCedar stands behind the quality of our craftsmanship. We offer a Limited Lifetime Warranty on the sauna structure itself. Heater components are covered for five years, and heating elements are covered for one year. We view this as a long-term partnership and provide expert support for our customers.

What are the benefits of regular use?

Integrating sauna sessions into your routine can offer numerous potential benefits. These include relief from muscle tension, improved circulation, and stress reduction. The deep sweat induced by heat supports skin cleansing and respiratory relief, providing a natural way to recharge both mind and body.

How is the sauna shipped and delivered?

Due to the substantial size and weight of our saunas, delivery is handled via a flatbed trailer.

  • Offloading Requirements: Please note that manual offloading is not applicable for many of our larger models. A forklift or crane is typically required at the delivery site to safely unload the crate.
  • Notification: Our logistics team will contact you approximately two weeks in advance to coordinate the delivery window, giving you ample time to arrange for the necessary equipment and site preparation.
  • Costs: Shipping rates vary by destination. Please check the specific product page for detailed handling requirements.
